Web

As the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County looked towards celebrating their 50 year anniversary, they took on the task of rebranding the foundation and building a new website. Katherine Petillo created a branding look that was a nod to the history of the past but had a timeless quality to it. The foundation wanted their website to not only have a fresh look but also to include statistics of their accomplishments, information about their history, feature information about the board of directors and staff, be a resource for their many events, contain a blog, feature news articles, showcase their sponsors, showcase their three divisions, showcase testimonials, showcase their preservation success stories, and showcase places in the county to visit.

All of this information needed to be incorporated in the website, but in easy to digest segments that were easy to navigate and showcased the rich heritage and beauty of the county. Having an easy to navigate menu and the information laid out in clean simple segments accomplished this objective. The use of carousels helped us feature all the needed information in a given section without overwhelming the user with every element visible at first glance. The homepage slider features current events that the client can update on their own. Using parallax images sparingly gave the site a modern feel without sacrificing user experience.

Strategically, I wanted the website to have minimal design so that the rich photography from their events, their history, and their beautiful county would be the feature. The website needed to look bold and full of character, but with restraint so that the amount of content wasn’t overwhelming. I think this goal was achieved.
