This poster was created to draw the public to a discussion with Mayor Karl Dean of the book, Life of Pi. This event was also a celebration of Bongo Java’s 20th birthday. They celebrating their birthday with—the ever-so-appropriate dessert—pie. In creating this poster, I wanted to give the audience an immediate association to the book, Life of Pi, and one of its main characters—a tiger. I researched Life of Pi book covers and movie posters. I chose to reference the deluxe illustrated edition cover layouts (seen below) in my poster layout. I believe the first book cover layout was a preliminary layout, not seen by the public, which was replaced by the second layout (both below). I like how this event poster turned out.
